let me start of saying this place is vey nice and quite.. pool and beach in the back of the resort.. rooms are big and beds are comfy.. when we got there to check in the lady told us there was a * deposit, then we ask to speak to the manager she was vey IGNORANT..while we talking to her she was texting WTF..anyways she couldnt do anything about that. ( my vacation was already paid 6 months ago) if you get drinks outside they dont accept cash they will take it from your deposit, sucks, even the parking...casino is vey small..i had a really good time, if you need to buy food,, you should go out the resort way cheaper..you will need a car!!!! also went to a time-share thing they had and got a $ * Amex card oh yeah, lol

I would not recommend this resort during the week. We found it to be very short on staff. Most of the staff seemed tried of helping anyone and never even acknowledged us with a simple hello. We traveled with two children ages 10 and 17. We could never use the pool slide since it is only open from 10 to 5 at which time we were exploring the island and not at the pool. There is no help or service available early in the morning by the pool or beach. This made trying to enjoy the sunrise outside horrible without a simple cup of coffee. At the main restaurant there was only 2 waiters and you had to wait an extremely long time just to order your drinks much less food. The casino was a joke. It is very small and caters to the employees that are off duty. It was difficult to find a slot machine to play since all off-duty employees had taken them and only one black jack table was operating and people had been waiting for hours to play. No card tables were open and they finally opened the roulette table only when off-duty employees wanted to play. Only 2 waiters were working and they never approached us so we never could get a drink order placed. When I approached the lady in charge to ask for help I was dismissed by her and told that since only 2 people were on duty I would have to wait for them to approach me. When I told her that I had been waiting for an hour and just could I please have some water I was told to wait for service since both bars in the casino were closed. This was a sad experience.

Over all its been a great experiance. I will start with the best THE POOL. A 24 our pool which gave us a chance to go around places in the day time bout not worrying we miss out a great weather by the pool. Room was ok over all. Would have been great if it has wall to wall carpet bathroom needs lot maintenance was old. Great resturants inside resort lk Shimas#40best sushi#41 nice bar. Casino was small not wt we expected. PARKING the worest. So annoyed. When you go in you get a ticket if you want to leave you got to VALIDATE by the desk. Within a day for every hr you want to step out VALIDATE TICKET VALIDATE TICKET. TIPS while booking no need of paying extra for an extra adventure offers. Rent a car and you will save ur money by half by driving yourself to the place. Food and drinks r pricey. Extra charges for amenities lk fridge no need 5mins away go to walmart buy a cooler and ur drinks leave in ur room save more money. Breakfast Antojitos#402mins away#41.. lunch La Parilla#405mins#41... dinner old san juan that way you will enjoy breeze walking and stop by nice night clubs after dinner.. then go back to the resort grab a drink from ur cooler and jump in the warm pool. Must go places:- Hacienda Calabari ride ATV Fort by old san juan Culebra beach on a ferry pastry and bakery shop right outside the resort on the main street. Its been Great experince.

I enjoyed my stay at the Rio Mar Resort. Everyone there was so friendly and the hotel was just gorgeous. The view from the hotel room was beautiful. When I first got to the hotel I could smell the cleanliness in the room, and if I called front desk they responded quickly. I liked that when I called front desk they would always address me by my last name, that made me feel so important. I like the fact that you really didn't have to leave the hotel, because they had a spa, casino, several places to eat. I went to the Tiki Bar everyday I was there

I found this hotel not to be worthy of their 4 star rating. The staff were anything but friendly. The resturants were good but way over priced even for a resort. The parking situation is crazy..wanting $20 a day to park out in the weeds. Our room service was spotty as best. One day I wasnt given towels or washclothes, had to drink out of the same glass all week and when I mentioned this at checkout I was totally blown off. Not to mention a 8:30 wakep call from a jack hammer on the roof! I would say it is pretty but for the money I would never go back. My money is better spend in Mexico or a country that appreciates its clients.
